Mark RonsonのAllido-RecordsからWaleのファーストアルバムです。
同じMark Ronsonの後ろ盾で2006年にデビューしたRhymefestのBlue Collar
が素晴らしかったので、新人の中でもサイケデリックな雰囲気のKid Cudiには
食指が動きませんでしたがWaleのアルバムは楽しみにしていました。
内容はというと中核をMark Ronsonとミックステープ時代からクレジット
されていた新進と思われるBest Kept Secretが固め、マス向けのシングルには
Cool & Dreが担当するという布陣(他にNeptunesも参加)です。ラップの方は
ミックステープできっちりスキルを磨いたようで新人とは思えないほど
巧かったです。トラックの方は4曲を担当したBest Kept Secretのトラックが
どれも素晴らしい出来でした！！思えばRhymefestと同じ06年にデビューした
Lupeも新進のSoundtrakkと組み2枚の傑作を生みましたが、それと同じように気が
早いですがwaleもセカンドアルバムではまたBest Kept Secretと組んで
欲しいなぁ、なんて思いました。
06年組みのRhymefestやConsequenceは最近音沙汰がないので心配ですが09年組みの
WaleはDrakeやCudiに負けず頑張ってほしいです。
Cool & Dreの"Chillin" を聞いて溜息をついてしまった人もセカンドシングルの
World Tourではwaleのフックも含めてかっこいい出来になっているので是非！！
